Join us and the FDNY in NYC!

On September 26th, 2010, we will continue to follow the footsteps of Stephen Siller and all others who perished on 9/11. The FDNY and the family of Firefighter Stephen Siller request your participation in the 9th annual Firefighter Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run/Walk. We are again inviting fire departments throughout the country to join the New York City Fire Department in honoring Stephen and all the 343 firefighters who died on the day that forever be known as 9/11. Become part of the Brother for Brother Firefighter Remembrance.

stephenbioOn September 11, 2001 Firefighter Stephen Siller had completed his tour and was heading home to his wife and 5 young children. When Stephen heard on his scanner what had happened, he turned his vehicle around and raced back to his firehouse in Brooklyn to get his gear. When, for security reasons he was prohibited from entering the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, he got out of his vehicle, and, with his gear strapped to his back, he began his heroic run. He was last seen alive at the World Trade Center site where he and so many others gave their lives so that others might live.

For the past eight years, thousands of people from across the United States and from abroad have retraced Stephen's footsteps from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the World Trade Center site. Last year over 250 firefighters from England joined us and more expected this year. As you can see by the picture above, 343 FDNY held picture flags of each of their fallen brothers. They held the flags in the tunnel while cheering on thousands of runners and walkers. What a moving tribute to them all! Since the inception of the Tunnel to Towers Run we have donated nearly $550,000 dollars to NYC Firefighters Burn Center and Burn Centers across America.

We are requesting that your department:

  • Raise as much money as you can and half will go to the Burn Center of your choice.
  • **Please note you can start a fundraising page, by clicking on "BECOMING A FUNDRAISER" then create a team fundraising page and raise money that way for your team.  (Please send the link to this e-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it so your account will be credited.
  • Fee of $50.00 per person, which is the entrance fee (3-man Team $150.00)
  • Each fire department can recruit a 3-member firefighter team
  • 1 Flag Holder in Class "A' Uniform to participate in the actual run. The1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams receive a plaque.

If you joined us last year, please come and join us again. This event is becoming the 9/11 event and we would love for all of the fire departments nationwide to join us in honoring all those who perished on that horrific day.

We will never forget! A quote from a firefighter/marathoner from London, "It's the best run in the world!"
